Iain Clark

Iain has a wealth of practical experience gained over more than 15 years of conducting all types of Civil Litigation, particularly private & commercial litigation and arbitration, before the Courts and other Tribunals in Scotland and internationally.

Admitted as a Solicitor Advocate (Civil), he has extended rights of audience to appear before the Sheriff Courts of Scotland, the Court of Session, and the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. As a highly motivated and proactive specialist litigator, Iain is able to assist those clients (and other Solicitors and Firms) who require advice in the Court of Session without necessarily incurring the additional expense of Counsel and Edinburgh Agents. He is also a Visiting Lecturer on International Arbitration at the University of Edinburgh and a member of the Global Academic Faculty, Course Director and Visiting Lecturer at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law Practice (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee.  Iain has also recently been accredited as one of the World's first CEPMLP Commercial Abitrators.

Iain is regularly instructed in relation to domestic and transnational disputes - to advise on and conduct arbitrations and mediations, including disputes in the engineering, construction, oil & gas, renewables, and property fields; and in other general commercial disputes. He would be happy to discuss and conduct International Arbitrations in Scotland (particularly in light of the Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010, which came into force on 7 June 2010), or further afield.
